About IIChE & NRC

 

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers is the apex professional society of Chemical Engineers in India, popularly abbreviated as IIChE. IIChE is a confluence of streams of professionals from academia, research institutes and industry. It provides them the appropriate forum for joint endeavors, hand in hand, to work for human well being through application of chemical engineering and allied sciences. The IIChE has more than 30 regional centers operating in the country. The Northern Regional Center covers the territorial limits of towns around Delhi like Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Panipat and Sonipat. The center is abbreviated as IIChE NRC. In short the purpose and activities of IIChE are summarized below:-

 

  • Registered society for imparting education / training of young Engineers / Students.

  • No profit institution.

  • Conducting subsidized research on chemical engineering problems.

  • Promoting advancement of chemical engineering science / professionals.

  • Conducting examination of AMIIChE for awarding certificates / diplomas equivalent to chemical engineering degree, for improving career prospects.

  • Conducting meetings and transacting business on administrative, academic and technical matters relating to profession of chemical engineering.

  • Granting awards, donations, scholarships, diplomas and certificates to such persons as may be deemed fit, on the basis of merit-cum-means.

  • Conducting short-term courses for students of AMIIChE.

  • Conducting seminars on topical subjects of national development and submitting recommendation to the govt.

 

 

Goals & Objectives:

 

The institute is pursuing its objective of promoting the cause of Chemical Engineering through education and training activities. The other goals and objectives are:-

 

  • To increase membership

  • To build external partnership

  • To enhance member participation

  • To encourage young Chemical Engineers to participate in the activities of the Institute

  • To assist and help students through continuing education courses, award of scholarship to meritorious and needy students

  • To conduct AMIIChE examination for employed graduates and diploma in engineering which is recognized by Govt. of India equivalent to chemical engineering degree

NRC Facilities & Infrastructure:

 

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Northern Regional Centre, has its own building at Qutab Institutional Area, South Delhi. The Institute is part of the institutional fraternity of Qutab Institutional Area and located at a stones throw distance from IIT Delhi. The locational advantage of the institute, its ambience and environment makes it ideal choice for organizing lectures, training, shows, seminars etc.

 

The Institute has fully functional secretariat and has following infrastructure:-

 

  • Well-furnished and equipped 90 seating capacity Auditorium.

  • 15 seating capacity Conference Room.

  • 120 sq. mts. basement suitable for exhibitions, shows etc.

  • A functional library stocking books on chemical engineering and allied areas. Journals on various areas of interest.

  • Well-groomed front and back lawns, which could be used for hosting tea / lunches / dinners during seminars, training programmes etc.

 

We offer these facilities for short-term duration to institutions and corporate entities of repute at a nominal fee which has been worked out on no profit / no loss basis.

 

Scholarship Scheme:

 

NRC has instituted Golden Jubilee merit cum means scholarship for Chemical Engineering students in this region. This scheme is open to undergraduate / dual degree Students of II / III / IV year Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology studying in College / Institute / University run by Govt. in North India and whose parental income does not exceed Rs. 4.0 Lacs (Rupees Four Lacs) in a year from all sources.

The salient features of the scheme are as under:-

 

  • The scholarship amount is Rs. 30,000/- each.

  • Total number of scholarships is 20 each year, out of these 3 are reserved for girls.

  • The students who have received scholarships for two consecutive years are not eligible for third year.

  • The applications are invited in the 3rd week of July every year through the head of Deptt. of Chemical Engineering of respective colleges.

 

Award

 

We have started IIChE(NRC) Award for best MTech/M.E. Thesis in Chemical Engineering and/or allied discipline from AICTE/UGC recognized institution/universities w.e.f. 2022-23. The Award amount is Rs. 50,000/-.
